Police Services
Frostburg State University Police are sworn, certified police officers as required by Maryland state law. All officers have attended and completed a twenty-six week academy certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission and mandated in-service training annually. The enforcement authority of campus police is derived from the Annotated Code of Maryland, Education Article 13-601. On occasion the Maryland State Police, Frostburg City Police, Allegany County Sheriff may be called for assistance if requested by the university.
The University Police are responsible for the safety and security of all who learn, live, work, and visit the campus. The University Police Department has full law enforcement authority on campus. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
University Police services include but are not limited to
- investigation of crimes and incidents on campus
- reporting crimes
- responding to calls for service
- responding to emergencies
- enforcing traffic laws
- making arrests
- overseeing vehicle registration and parking enforcement
- managing lost and found
- providing fingerprinting service
- proactively preventing crime by educational presentations to the campus community
- maintaining physical security of the buildings
